The leader of a synagogue was found dead in the American state of Michigan on Saturday. According to police, the woman’s body showed multiple stab wounds.
A trail of blood led officers to the nearby home of 40-year-old Samantha Woll, “where the crime is believed to have occurred.” The motive for the crime is currently unclear; police have asked the FBI for help in the investigation. Police Chief James White called for patience and warned against jumping to conclusions before “all available evidence has been assessed.”
Woll was active in the Democratic Party and worked for U.S. Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin, the Detroit Free Press reported. She also actively supported an organization that brought young Muslims and Jews together.
Community “shocked and sad”
A statement on the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue Facebook page said: “We are shocked and saddened by the unexpected death of our board chair, Samantha Woll.”
