Suspect confesses: ‘Came with a knife because chocolate was pointless’

Date:

The Israeli (26) who attacked and seriously injured a 34-year-old woman in Regau (Upper Austria) two weeks ago is now being interrogated. The two had previously met online, but had never met in person. But he denies any intent to commit murder.

“I took a knife with me because flowers and chocolate would not have helped to talk to her” – this is how the Israeli (26) explains why he picked up an adored 34-year-old woman in Regau and forced her to her apartment at the point of a knife . “He wanted to confront her with the reason why, in his opinion, she had broken off the relationship with him,” Silke Enzlmüller, spokeswoman for the Wels public prosecutor’s office, explains about the Munich-based attacker’s motive.

Address determined based on photos
He fell in love with the Dutch woman through online video and social media platforms. She did not respond to his advances, cut off contact and did not respond to his birthday wishes in September. This made the 26-year-old depressed and he also thought about taking his own life. Before that, he wanted to see his beloved at least once.

I wanted to ‘defend myself’
Although he did not know exactly where she lived, he drove from Munich to Regau, discovered the address from photos and sent messages – the apartment building was once visible in the background – and met his victim there.

As he admitted, he always had the knife in his hand. But he never wanted to hurt the 34-year-old; the cut on her neck “happened” during defensive movements before the victim could escape to a neighbor. The attacker then drove away and crashed into a utility pole in Altheim. Now, two weeks later, he was ready for questioning.
