The large presence of renewable energy generation, especially wind energy, due to the effects of wind and rain storms, allows these low prices to be recorded.
The average electricity price for regulated tariff customers linked to the wholesale market will rise to 5.03 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) this Sunday, November 5, although it will be 0 euros/MWh until 6 p.m.
In this way, it remains within the area of the annual minimums in which it has been since last Wednesday, November 1, due to the high contribution of renewable energy sources (mainly wind and hydraulic) in the generation.
For each time slot, another day is lived with hours at zero euros per MWh, namely the entire period from 00:00 to 18:00. The maximum price, of 25.02 euros/MWh, will be registered between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., according to preliminary data from the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE).
The large presence of renewable energy generation, especially wind energy, due to storms, with a performance of storms that leave strong winds and rainmakes it possible for these low prices to be registered.
So far in November, with only five days, an average price of 4.25 euros/MWh has been recorded, compared to just over 115 euros/MWh that it registered in the same month last year.
