The 30-year-old Pole who allegedly murdered an acquaintance (36) in the Tyrolean city of Itter (Kitzbühel district) is currently being held in a forensic-therapeutic center. The court decided this on Sunday after the suspect was interrogated again.
The court has thus confirmed the strong suspicion against the man, according to Hansjörg Mayr, spokesman for the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office. The suspect was interrogated in court on Sunday. However, he did not provide any information on the matter and mentioned a mental illness.
The Pole was arrested on Thursday. Due to his ‘mentally abnormal condition’, the Public Prosecution Service did not submit a request for pre-trial detention, but requested admission to a forensic-therapeutic center.
The motive for the crime remains unclear
Mayr was unable to report anything new on Sunday about the status of the investigation. The motive therefore remains unclear. The alleged perpetrator and the victim knew each other and according to witness statements there had been frequent ‘conflict situations’ recently.
Discovered dead by own parents
The 36-year-old’s body was found in the apartment in Itter on Tuesday evening. Particularly tragic: her own parents discovered their deceased son in the kitchen. “After returning from vacation,” as lead researcher Gert Hofmann described it to the “Krone” at the time.
According to the autopsy results, the man was killed by a massive strike to the neck.
