Everything was perfect in the life of Marko Varga: a four-year-old son, a beloved partner, who scored the first goal for the new club Donau Linz on Friday evening, retaining first place in the national league. But everything has changed since 2:10 am on Saturday: the young family’s life has been turned upside down.
Died in hospital
The serious accident took place on the western highway towards Vienna, involving a total of four vehicles. 26-year-old Hungarian Marko Varga was thrown from his black Audi A3 and landed on the road with serious injuries. Rescuers carried out resuscitation measures on the spot, but the young footballer died a few hours later at Kepler University Hospital.
The exact cause of the accident is still unclear, but according to the police there are increasing indications that the 26-year-old drove incorrectly and therefore caused the fatal accident.
