As has only now become known, two tax officials saved the life of a man on the Tauernautobahn in October. The 26-year-old suffered an accident due to cardiac arrest.
During a training in Salzburg, two financial police officers from Carinthia became life-savers. Klaus Smeritschnig and Mario Kainz were the first to arrive at the scene of an accident on the A10 in Salzburg. A Hungarian man apparently went into cardiac arrest. The officers cordoned off the area and came to the 26-year-old’s aid. One of the financial police officers, a paramedic, immediately began resuscitation measures.
Accident victim reported in stable condition
At the same time, his colleague organized the rescue operation and several first aid kits from the surrounding vehicles. The two were assisted by a doctor who also happened to arrive at the scene of the accident.
After successful resuscitation, the accident victim was taken to the emergency helicopter in a critical but stable condition and flown to the nearest hospital.
