A Tyrolean (32) was in court on Monday for serious cases of vandalism in Innsbruck. In the Landeck area, no disk was safe from the local population. During the trial he also revealed his motive.
The Tyrolean went out several nights and randomly broke windows of shops, bars and cars in Ried, Prutz and Landeck. The man admitted his alcohol addiction and made a confession. When asked about the motive, he mainly described his recurring, unbridled anger. “When I was drunk, a pig always rode me!” He also liked the sound of windows breaking: “It just makes a nice noise.”
With an e-bike and a backpack full of stones
During the trial, the process also became clear: between September 14 and 19, the 32-year-old went out every evening with his e-bike and a backpack full of stones. He targeted supermarkets, schools, sports clubs, tobacconists, the Landeck district council and the local ÖGK. On September 19, the handcuffs clicked for the latter and pre-trial detention was imposed.
‘I’m very sorry about all this. “It was all completely coincidental,” the man told the judge. He “wasn’t thinking” and was drunk. “I am aware it was nonsense,” he added. His vandalism also involved objects other than stones: chairs, bottles or simply fists.
Unconditional detention is already legally binding
Her client has “mental problems” and the crimes “were not done out of malice,” his lawyer argued. Ultimately, the previously convicted man was given an unconditional prison sentence of twelve months. The verdict is already legally binding.
