The Port of Bilbao has received 80 cruise ships with 148,791 passengers in “an excellent cruise season”, which for the second consecutive year represents “a record in terms of number of stops and passengers”, as reported by the Port Authority.
The President of the Port Authority of Bilbao, Ricardo Barkala, has positively assessed this season, pointing out that Bilbao continues to position itself “on the route of the major cruise lines, which contributes significantly to the increase in tourism in the territory.”.
In 2019, 50 cruise ships arrived at the port of Bilbao; In 2020, due to Covid-19, cruises were suspended until this traffic resumed in August 2021 and there were 14 stops; while in 2022 it started cruises with few passengers on board and reached a record number of 78 cruises, which will be surpassed again this year.
