Major operation for the professional fire brigade of Graz on Monday evening: A fire broke out in an apartment in an apartment building in the Geidorf district. However, the resident initially did not want to be rescued by the fire brigade.
On Monday around 12:45 p.m., a fire broke out in the apartment of a 52-year-old woman from Graz. The woman managed to escape via the balcony. However, rescue with a turntable ladder was initially not possible because the woman simply refused to go with the fire brigade.
The woman had to be “convinced”.
However, the fire brigade managed to gain access via the stairwell and eventually extinguish the fire. But here too, the resident initially did not want to go and was only ‘persuaded’ by the police to save her.
The apartment was severely damaged by the flames and is uninhabitable. Due to suspected smoke poisoning, the woman was eventually taken to the LKH-Univ. Taken to Graz hospital. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
Another apartment burned down
A short time later the next mission for the professional fire brigade followed: a fire broke out above a restaurant on Harter Strasse. The fire in the living room was quickly extinguished.
Graz Linien provided a bus so that the six rescued people did not have to stay in the cold. After the building was no longer habitable, the residents were moved into replacement apartments. Here too, the cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
