Presumably due to a technical defect, a wheel loader burst into flames at an industrial factory in Preding (Styria) on Wednesday evening. Fortunately, no one was injured.
There was a vehicle fire at an industrial company in Preding on Wednesday evening: Shortly before the end of his shift, the driver of a wheel loader wanted to park his vehicle and connect it to the battery warmer for the night. He heard a clicking sound and saw smoke coming from the engine compartment.
The employee responded with presence of mind
In this situation, the employee reacted with presence of mind and maneuvered the vehicle about 30 meters away from the parking position: he thus created sufficient distance from other parked vehicles and a hall, possibly preventing something worse. A few seconds later the wheel loader was on fire.
Employees responded quickly
Thanks to the employee’s courageous response, the fire brigades of Preding and Wettmannstätten were able to attack the burning vehicle from all sides. The respiratory protection teams quickly brought the fire under control.
If the vehicle had remained in its original parking position, the burning wheel loader would have only been accessible from the front, which would have significantly complicated firefighting efforts and potentially caused further damage to vehicles and buildings. Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident.
