A 17-year-old Viennese without a driver’s license went on a wild chase with the police in Lower Austria this weekend. He raced through the area at a speed of up to 187 km/h, endangering several road users.
The young driver was first spotted by the police around 5 p.m. on Saturday. He drove the car into a roundabout. The 17-year-old continued his tour quickly. On the B303 it reached 187 km/h at a maximum permitted speed of 100 km/h, and in the Jetzelsdorf area it reached 130 km/h at a maximum permitted speed of 50 km/h.
Despite stop signs
Stop signs were ignored and several other road users had to slow down and avoid the scene, police said. The patrol’s pursuit was broken off in Hadres – “due to the risky driving style and the danger to other road users and pedestrians” of the speeding driver, as was said in a broadcast by the State Police Directorate of Lower Austria.
Young man confesses
The youngster was then examined on Sunday. When questioned, the teen said he fled because he did not have a driver’s license. An electric stun gun in the form of a flashlight, a prohibited weapon and two stolen license plates were seized.
16 administrative violations
The suspect stated that he found the Austrian plaques on the street. He claims to have received the two pieces as gifts from Serbia.
The 17-year-old has been reported to the Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of endangering physical safety, coercion, suppressing documents and under the Weapons and Drugs Act. 16 administrative violations were also reported to the Hollabrunn district administration.
