Agreement between the Ministries of Labor and Economy to reform unemployment benefits

Date:

It is considering increasing the amount to 570 euros for the first six months and to 540 euros for the next six months. In addition, unemployed people under the age of 45 without family responsibilities are covered.

The Ministries of Labor and Economy have concluded an agreement on this reform of unemployment benefits who is considering increasing the amount to 570 euros for the first six months and 540 euros for the next six, according to Cadena SER. In addition, the aid will be compatible with employment during the first 180 days.

It is believed that it will be tested in the Council of Ministers next Tuesday, although they have referred to the subsequent press conference to find out the details of the agreement.

It was one of the future milestones to be able to request from Brussels the fourth disbursement of European funds for an amount of 10 billion euros.

For example, the subsidy amount will increase from the current 480 euros to 570 euros in the first six months of the benefit, to 540 euros in the subsequent six months and will remain at the current 480 euros of the benefit for the remainder of the term.

Furthermore sand expands the number of beneficiaries because it is included in two groups that have been excluded so far: unemployed people under 45 years old without family responsibilities will be able to collect it, also those over 52 years old with responsibilities even if their family income exceeds a limit, and all temporary workers in the agricultural sector .

This agreement eliminates the months-long wait to access unemployment benefits and regulates compatibility between receiving the benefit and work for up to 180 days as a formula to ease the transition to the labor market for the unemployed.

This reform has been the subject of clashes in recent weeks between Yolanda Díaz’s Ministry of Labor and Nadia Calviño’s Ministry of Economy, but both departments have reached an agreement to unblock this reform.
