Last fall, a child was allegedly attacked in the Red Cross’s “Children’s Worlds” toddler group in Salzburg. The case is known to the management of the Red Cross and is now being handled by the public prosecutor.
After the management was informed of the incident, the Red Cross wrote to the parents of the children in the toddler group last Monday. A child from the toddler group was probably attacked in the fall. Apparently a mother has voiced the suspicion. The type of abuse involved and whether it involved one or more children remained open due to ongoing proceedings. The group cares for 48 children aged one to three years in six groups.
reported to the public prosecutor
“We only recently found out, but immediately reported the incident to the public prosecutor. The person concerned has not worked in the toddler group for a long time,” says Sabine Kornberger-Scheuch, regional director of the Red Cross. The presumably innocent suspect left the company for a different reason, the Red Cross said. In addition, direct discussions were held with all those involved and external experts were consulted.
Guaranteed support for parents and children
The letter from the parents, which is available to Krone, states: “As an educational institution, we want to be transparent in our approach, show protective measures for those affected and offer support to parents and children who may be affected by abuse”. Next Monday there will be an information evening for parents together with representatives of the Center for Violence Protection.
A statement of the facts of the current case has meanwhile been received by the public prosecutor. Here it is now checked whether an investigation is being started.
