Firefighters in Niederneukirchen (Upper Austria) had to rescue not a funny guy, but a real one from an unfortunate situation. The poor animal was stuck in a shaft of an abandoned bunker. The fire brigade had to arrive on site and deploy heavy equipment.
The bird was discovered by some young people who heard strange noises coming from the abandoned bunker. They discovered a ventilation shaft into which, as it turned out, the owl had fallen.
Hole was blocked
The fire brigade initially tried to free the bird from a depth of three and a half meters with a long stick, but without success. Together with the landowner, it was ultimately decided to dig a hole in the shaft at the height of the animal.
It took an hour and a half before the hole was finally ready and the scared owl could be rescued from a difficult situation.
The animal is now being cared for
The rescued bird was then handed over to the Upper Austrian Animal Rescue, where it received the necessary care and support. According to Animal Protection, without the discovery and the quick action of those involved, the animal would have met a painful end in the shaft.
