In the Weinviertel, a small pony was helplessly stuck in a hay rack, and the dog “Kyra” bit a fence in Krems. Both times the fire brigade rushed to help and freed the animals from their predicament.
Shortly before New Year’s Eve, fire brigades across the country called for two animal missions: In Lassee in the Gänserndorf district, a captured pony had to be freed from its predicament. The animal got stuck in a hay rack at a riding school and became stuck. Nothing worked anymore.

The alarmed comrades arrived with three vehicles and a hydraulic spreader. It was quickly possible to push apart the fence and save the pony from its involuntary “captivity”. The animal appears to have survived the incident well; fortunately it appears not to have suffered any serious injuries. After just over 30 minutes, the animal emergency was successfully resolved.
In Krems, however, a fireworks display on New Year’s Eve sparked an animal rescue operation by the fire brigade. After the loud bang, the dog “Kyra” dug into the fence of the kennel in panic. The comrades immediately went to the animal shelter to help the four-legged friend. The grille was cut with bolt cutters and “Kyra” was freed within a few minutes.
