On Tuesday afternoon, the skiers from the Kirchdorf district tried to find a variation on the Wurzeralm from the Schwarzecklift mountain station to the front valley run and therefore left the secured piste.

The 23-year-old from Schlierbach, the skier in front, must have missed an edge of the terrain (rock wall) and fallen about 30 meters over a rock wall. The seriously injured man had to be rescued from the steep terrain by the emergency medical helicopter “Christophorus 99” using rope.
Friend also needed saving
His 26-year-old, uninjured friend from Ried im Traunkreis, who had to helplessly watch the accident and the rescue operation above the rock face, was finally freed from his predicament by mountain rescuers and the Alpine police with the help of a rope.
