Bad Timing – Steyregg Asylum: Fight just before the top

For almost two weeks it was quiet around the asylum shelter for young refugees in Steyregg, Upper Austria. Last night it started again and the police were also on site. Explosive timing, because a summit conference will take place on Thursday to decide the future of the hostel.

About ten people involved allegedly got into a fight with each other in the Steyregger asylum accommodation on Thursday night; Initial reports indicate that ten young people were involved in a fight.

Police confirm an operation for property damage. Officials said no injuries were reported and no specific suspects were identified.

The timing is extremely bad: as the “Krone” reported, a summit meeting will take place on Thursday. In the community near Linz, the mayor, representatives of the police and fire brigade of Steyregg meet Andreas Achrainer, the head of the Federal Agency for Care and Support Services (BBU), which runs the refugee home.
