Pope Francis is again plagued by health problems. The 87-year-old explained during an audience on Friday that he was suffering from mild bronchitis.
“I would like to read the whole speech, but I have a problem: a mild form of bronchitis,” Francis said at the symposium “Université des Communicants en Église,” sponsored by the French Episcopal Conference.
This was the Pope’s third audience on Friday. In the first two, Francis read the respective speeches, albeit in a somewhat hoarse voice.
Pope is struggling with health problems
At the beginning of December, Francis had to cancel his participation in the COP28 world climate conference in Dubai. He also had to forego several other public appearances. According to the Vatican, the Argentina native was also suffering from bronchitis at the time.
On several occasions he had speeches delivered by other high-ranking clergymen. Last year, the Pope was admitted twice to a clinic in Rome, including open abdominal surgery.
