Everyone deals with grief differently – Jess Porter-Langson from Brighton has found a rather unique way to cope with the loss of her pet ‘Hammy’. The 27-year-old went to a taxidermist to create a memorial for the hamster.

The young woman bought this statue for 175 pounds (about 200 euros). The 27-year-old, who works in the music industry, said the animal served as an “emotional support hamster” for her when she moved to London in early 2020. “I bought a hamster and that became my little project during lockdown. I built him an enclosure from recycled materials and stuff. It was my hobby.”
“Hammy” had a long life for a hamster. She consciously chose a pet that would not grow old, because she did not want to make a long-term commitment.
