Difficult to operate – steering wheel slid down snow embankment

Date:

In Bad Dürrnberg (Salzburg), the Hallein fire brigade went out on Monday evening to rescue a car that had fallen on a slope due to heavy snowfall. The rear of the car was in the air and the driver was able to free himself. A neighbor had already secured the car with his tractor.

The heavy snowfall in the evening proved fatal for a man from Bad Dürrnberg: he is a neighbor of the Fischpointweg and wanted to drive onto the slippery driveway to his house. He slid to the left down the dike. He was able to free himself from the car when the rear of the car was already in the air.

Neighbors informed
The driver alerted a neighbor who came to his aid with his tractor and tied the car to a tree to prevent it from sliding further.

When Hallein firefighters arrived, they attached a cable to a nearby tree and used a winch to pull the car back onto the road. According to operational manager Manfred Schörghofer, this was only possible very slowly. The driver was uninjured and the car was still drivable after the rescue.
