Consternation and shock reign in the small town of Freibach in the Carinthian municipality of Gallizien. Thursday’s fatal accident, in which an 18-year-old driver drove into a bus stop through black ice and hit a woman, left its mark.

It is not only candles that the relatives have placed at the scene of the accident that ensure that that morning will not be forgotten so quickly. On Thursday morning, the icy roads in Carinthia claimed one life. As reported, an 18-year-old driver lost control of her vehicle on a long bend and crashed into a bus stop. That’s exactly where the 67-year-old waited for the bus; all help came too late for her.

“The entire community is shocked,” says Mayor Hannes Mak, who has already personally expressed his condolences to the relatives. Particularly tragic: next week there will be a big birthday in close family circles. “We are all in shock,” a local resident told “Krone”. Because the victim was of course known in the town of about 40 inhabitants.

“We also sympathize with the young driver. In such an accident – ​​especially if you skid – you are just a passenger,” Mak expresses his condolences for the 18-year-old. She is completely in shock: “After the accident, the driver got out. “She was screaming and crying,” an eyewitness of the dramatic seconds reported. Another tragic detail: according to information from “Krone”, the victim and the 18-year-old knew each other.
