Several fire brigades had to respond to a house fire in Feldkirch-Altenstadt (Vorarlberg) on Friday evening. The object was almost completely destroyed, but fortunately no one was injured.
At exactly 7:27 p.m., the police received an emergency call that clouds of smoke were coming from a house in Amberggasse in Feldkirch. The caller was a train driver who had just passed the location in question with his train.
Top floor in full fire
When the emergency services arrived on the scene, the top floor was already completely on fire. At this time it was unclear whether there were any people in the building; research could not be carried out due to the extreme smoke. After intensive investigation by the police, permission was quickly given and all residents were out of the house.
Because the fire spread quickly through the false ceilings, an excavator had to be called in to extinguish the fire and parts of the roof and facade were removed. A total of five fire brigades with 133 men and twelve vehicles were involved in the operation.
Cause of fire unclear
The fire was not extinguished until around 3 a.m. The cause of the fire is still a mystery and investigations are ongoing. In any case, the house will remain uninhabitable for a long time.
