About 150 firefighters fought the flames in Tyrol for more than five hours on Saturday night. A fire broke out on a farm in St. Ulrich am Pillersee (Kitzbühel district). The resident (87) and about 30 animals were rescued. The cause of the fire can most likely be ruled out as arson.
It was a long and especially cold night of operations that kept the fire brigades in St. Ulrich am Pillersee and the surrounding area quite busy on Saturday evening. The fire broke out in the middle of the city on Friday evening around 10 p.m. When the alarmed fire brigade arrived, the roof of the farm was on fire. The 87-year-old resident was able to escape unharmed. The emergency services were also able to rescue approximately 30 animals (horses, cows, bulls, ponies, etc.) that were on the adjacent farm property.
A fire broke out between the roof and the chimney
Now the fire investigation has at least shed some light on the matter. “The fire almost certainly started between the roof and the chimney,” police said. A technical defect could not be identified, and negligent or intentional actions could also be excluded “with a high degree of probability”.
