If a child has to be admitted to the Innsbruck Clinic after birth for any reason, the mother has no longer been admitted to hospital since January 1. Some private gynecologists are sharply critical, and the responsible director explains this step.
When a little miracle is born with health problems and has to be admitted to the Innsbruck Children’s Hospital for further treatment, it is a shock for the parents. They have to endure anxious hours, days or even weeks and patiently wait for the hopefully completely clear message that everything will be healthy.
So far, the affected mothers have been able to accompany their babies to the clinic in Innsbruck. As women who had recently given birth – as women are called in the period immediately after childbirth – they were admitted to the gynecology and obstetrics department (also a women’s clinic) so that they could be in the children’s clinic with their baby day and night. But this option was abolished on January 1 this year.
