An extremely aggressive man kept the police in Graz on edge for hours on Wednesday: first the 26-year-old rioted on a public bus, then he threatened employees in a store, and last but not least he bit a police officer on the arm.
Police officers were called to a shopping center in Graz-Liebenau around 3 p.m. The reason for this was a rebellious man. He had complained loudly in a sports store after the goods he ordered had apparently not yet been delivered. As a result, the 26-year-old (from the African Republic of Liberia), who lives in Graz, attacked two employees of the store.
Plank torn out
He threatened to kill them and also damaged a mobile phone and the clothing of the two employees. The 26-year-old also tore a plank from its anchorage in the store. Police officers then placed the man on the ground with the help of employees and restrained him.
It turned out that the 26-year-old had previously rioted on a public bus. The man took a camera from the Holding Graz Linien bus and damaged the interior lining of the public transport. Police officers eventually arrested the 26-year-old and, with the support of the SIG (Rapid Intervention Group), transferred him to the police detention center. There too, the man continued to attract attention.

Due to his persistent aggressive behavior, police officers eventually placed the 26-year-old in a specially secured cell. When he was transferred to another detention room, he also attacked a police officer. He bit the officer on the left forearm. Only the use of an electrical impulse weapon could ultimately subdue the rioter.
The 26-year-old is taken to Graz-Jakomini prison on the orders of the Graz Public Prosecutor’s Office. He is also reported to the public prosecutor on suspicion of several criminal offenses (including serious bodily harm, dangerous threats and resistance to state authority).
