Motionless next to the slopes – local resident (68) died three days after a skiing accident

Date:

For no apparent reason, a local skier landed next to a slope in the Wilder Kaiser-Brixental ski world in Tyrol on Sunday and remained motionless. The man now died in Kufstein Hospital. First the cause of death must be clarified.

On Sunday around 11:28 a.m., the 68-year-old skied at a very slow pace down a red-marked slope in the municipality of Itter, according to witness statements. For some unknown reason, he suddenly went over the edge of the track and fell five to six meters off the track into the snow. “Otherwise negligence can be ruled out,” said a police spokesperson when asked about it by “Krone”. There was also no impact on an obstacle, a collision or anything like that.

Emergency workers quickly arrived on the scene
Two uninvolved skiers found the man motionless, immediately called emergency services and began resuscitation measures. Two other unidentified skiers supported the first responders until the rescue helicopter arrived. After the 68-year-old was stabilized, he was flown by helicopter to the hospital in Kufstein. He died there on Wednesday at 10:15 p.m. The prosecutor has ordered an autopsy to clarify the cause of death.
