Purges in the system – attacks in Ukraine, many supply violations

Date:

The aggressor state Russia is once again carrying out violent attacks on the central Ukrainian district of Kremenchuk. Meanwhile, the war-torn country’s defense minister, Rustem Umyerov, admitted there had been “many violations” in the military when it came to equipment and supplies.

“For the second day in a row, the enemy is attacking the Poltava region,” the head of the region’s military government, Filip Pronin, said in Telegram on Monday evening. The destination is in the Kremenchuk district. There were no injuries. On Saturday, a rocket hit an industrial area in the same region. There were no casualties here either.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov admitted wrongdoing after the army complained about shortages of equipment and supplies. The minister said on Facebook that “many violations” were registered during unannounced inspections. Food supplies were also checked. Accordingly, provisions worth more than 50 million hryvnia (about 1.2 million euros) are missing, which have not been delivered.

Further unannounced inspections
“We are registering the violations and handling each case individually,” Umjerow wrote in the statement published on Sunday. Some military units have recently had their suppliers changed due to the events. The unannounced inspections, which also involve the secret services and other security bodies, will continue, the report said.

According to the Defense Ministry, there had recently been complaints from the armed forces about supply shortages in the camps of some units in the east of the country. Deficiencies in the quality and quantity of food were also identified.

Consequences after corruption scandals
Several recent corruption scandals have occurred in the Ministry of Defense and the armed forces, which are fighting Russia’s war of aggression with Western financial and military assistance. Defense Minister Umyerov announced that he was having the system cleaned.

The minister also recalled that a fraud scandal had come to light in the ministry, in which former and current officials had embezzled about 1.5 billion hryvnia (about 36.4 million euros) for the purchase of artillery ammunition. In this case, the amount was returned to the budget, as Umjerow announced.
