Nighttime US attacks – Syrian regime reports dead civilians

Date:

The Syrian regime has reported dead civilians and armed forces following US attacks on positions in Iraq and Syria. Other people were injured and the damage was ‘significant’.

Both public and private properties were damaged. As reported, the US military bombed 85 targets in Iraq and Syria in one night in retaliation for the deaths of three US soldiers (see video above). These included positions of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and other militias linked to Tehran. The Iranian government is the strongest ally of the Syrian regime and at the same time Israel’s archenemy. The Israeli army also repeatedly attacks targets in Syria and the Revolutionary Guards.

Biden: Don’t look for conflict
US President Joe Biden has already announced that the attacks will continue in due course. At the same time, he emphasized that the United States would not seek conflict in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world. “But anyone who wants to harm us should know this: If you harm an American, we will respond.”

The government in Damascus sees it differently. What the US did has fueled the conflict in the Middle East in a very dangerous way, the State Department said. Just hours after the attacks, fighters from the extremist Islamic Resistance Group said they had attacked Al-Harir air base in the autonomous Kurdistan region. American troops are stationed there. However, three security sources were initially unable to confirm this.

Syria: “Occupation cannot continue”
The Syrian army said on Saturday that the “occupation of parts of Syria by US forces cannot continue.” The entire national territory must be liberated from terrorism and occupation. There are currently approximately 900 US troops stationed in Syria to fight the Islamic State (IS) militia. There are still approximately 2,500 forces in Iraq.
