‘Destroy Graz’ was the call from a Syrian (14) on TikTok last year. It will soon become clear whether he will have to appear in criminal court.
Now he is behind bars, the 16-year-old from Bruck an der Mur who, together with his friend (15), planned a terrorist attack on the NMS Bruck an der Mur.
In October last year, another boy in Styria also raised the alarm about terrorism: via TikTok, a 14-year-old Syrian who has lived in Graz since 2015 called for the destruction of Graz. The video included three images with pro-Palestinian content in a continuous loop.
The 14-year-old is on the run
The video caused such a stir that the young man was soon tracked down by police. However, during his interrogation, he denied the crime and claimed that his friend had used his account. Police said he had an alibi.
The 14-year-old was subsequently reported and is currently at large. The Graz Public Prosecutor’s Office knows what will happen next. However, it has made its intentions known to the public prosecutor’s office and is waiting for a response from them, as StA spokesperson Hansjörg Bacher said in response to a ‘Steirekrone’ request. It should become clear soon whether the suspect will be charged or whether the investigation against him will be stopped.
