His texts in the ‘Standaard’ have consequences: comedian Florian Scheuba was found guilty of defamation on Tuesday – not legally binding. The background is statements against the head of the federal investigation in the aftermath of the Ibiza scandal.
The controversial quotes were published in September 2021 in the ‘Standaard’, for which Scheuba works as a columnist. Scheuba accused BKA boss Andreas Holzer, who at the time headed the so-called Soko Tape, of inaction.
Third negotiation again
Holzer went to court. Scheuba was actually acquitted in June 2022, but Holzer appealed it – the case was subsequently referred back to the first court, the Regional Criminal Court, by the higher regional court.
There the verdict was different: Scheuba had to pay 7,000 euros and the verdict was guilty of defamation. Scheuba would have to pay at least half of the fine. However, this judgment is also not legally binding.
“Photos of a bulging money bag”
Scheuba had claimed in September 2021 that Holzer had already received various incriminating material about Heinz-Christian Strache from the would-be video producers in March 2015, “including photos of the bulging money bag in Strache’s trunk.”
“Refusing to work with serious consequences”
Holzer only made an “incomplete file note” about this, which Scheuba described as “mysterious passivity” and a “serious refusal to work”.
