Two members of the Cobra Special Forces Unit, who were being used as bodyguards for the Chancellor’s family, caused a traffic accident with a company car about three weeks ago in their spare time. But that’s not all: According to the Ministry of the Interior (BMI), the two officers were also under the influence of alcohol!
The two bodyguards, who – as has only now become known – were responsible for protecting the wife of Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) on March 13, according to “Krone” information, drank alcohol after work and the guard’s end.
After that, however, they started their company car, which was parked in front of the chancellor’s apartment in Vienna-Hietzing. With this, the officials touched two parked vehicles while parking. No one was injured in the incident and there was minor physical damage.
Rate 1,2 per mille
The two neighborhood police officers who are routinely parked in front of the apartment complex’s front door reported the incident as needed. Moments later, a police patrol arrived and registered the accident.
The driver and bodyguard would have had a blood alcohol level of 1.2, his passenger refused the alcohol test. The Cobra officers have been transferred to the office and will now face disciplinary proceedings, the BMI said Friday.
