A serious accident took place in Eben im Pongau (Salzburg) on Friday afternoon. A student (13) completely severed the ring finger of his right hand after trying to high-five a road sign with the palm of his hand.
The 13-year-old jumped up and touched the traffic sign at a gas station along the highway. His ring got stuck on a metal rail and a serious accident occurred, police said.

After receiving initial care from the Red Cross and an emergency doctor, the youngster was flown by rescue helicopter to the LKH Salzburg. The student was part of an Italian school class returning home from a trip. The supervising teachers informed the parents.
