On Saturday evening, a 28-year-old motorist was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Nenzing (Vorarlberg). He was flown by emergency helicopter to Feldkirch State Hospital.
Shortly before 6 p.m., the 28-year-old Nenzinger was driving on the L190 towards Feldkirch, while at the same time a 41-year-old man from Nüziders was driving in the opposite direction. For reasons that are still unclear, one of the two drivers drove his car into the oncoming traffic near the Liebherr factory in the bend to the right – a frontal collision could no longer be avoided.
Thrown into a dike
The force of the impact threw the 28-year-old’s car into an embankment, turned the 41-year-old’s car around once and then came to a stop in the middle of the road on the other side. While the older person involved in the accident suffered only minor injuries, the younger one was much worse off. He was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated with rescue scissors.
The man was then flown to Feldkirch LKH with the Christophorus 8 emergency medical helicopter. Because there are still many unanswered questions about what happened, the accident cars have been seized on the orders of the Feldkirch Public Prosecutor’s Office. The L190 was closed for approximately two hours at the scene of the accident.
