French President Emmanuel Macron (46) defends himself for the first time against the claim that his wife (70) was born as a man.
The French presidential couple has been fighting for years the false claim that the former teacher was a transgender woman who was born as a man. Now, for the first time, the president has commented publicly on it.
‘False’ and ‘fabricated’
“The worst is the false information and fabricated scenarios,” Macron reportedly said unusually emotionally on Friday during an International Women’s Day event in Paris, after guaranteeing the right to abortion in the French constitution.
He also explained, “People end up believing the stories and harassing you, even in your privacy.”
“Concerned about society”
Brigitte Macron’s daughter, lawyer Tiphaine Auzaine, is also taking action against the rumors and said in an interview in ‘Paris Match’: ‘I worry about the level of society when I hear what is circulating on social networks about this. My mother is a man. .”
She particularly criticized the fact that anyone can “say anything about anyone” and that time passes before it is deleted.
The rumors come from two women who were fined for defamation by a French court last summer.
