Horror accident scenario on the B36 near Ysper in the Melk district yesterday, Saturday evening: a station wagon collided head-on with a pick-up. The vehicles were badly damaged, but the two drivers still escaped with their lives. In a second accident at the Stockerau A22 junction, seven people were injured and three rescue helicopters were deployed.
Due to the force of the impact, the quickly arrived fire brigades had their hands full with hydraulic equipment to free the occupants from the vehicles. A large number of emergency services were at the scene of the accident trying to rescue the drivers. A rescue helicopter was also present.
After the rescue and first aid, it was decided not to load both injured people into the helicopter, but to take them to the Amstetten Clinic by emergency ambulance.
