On Wednesday evening, the Graz professional fire brigade had to respond to several fires in Eggenberg. A suspect was arrested.
Was a fiery devil at work here? At least that is what the operational report of the professional fire brigade of Graz suggests. At around 7pm on Wednesday, she was alerted to a small fire outside the central station.
Just a few minutes later, several emergency calls came into the fire alarm center. The callers reported multiple fires in the basement and stairwell of an apartment building on the Eggenberg Belt, a few hundred yards from the first location.
When the professional fire brigade arrived, there was heavy smoking in the stairwell and entrance. Several residents had already tried to extinguish the fire with fire extinguishers.
A third fire occurred during the operation
While control and security work was still ongoing, reports were received of a new small fire on the Eggenberg Belt. There were two rubbish bins on fire, which were quickly extinguished by the professional fire brigade.
About 45 minutes after the first call at the main station, a caller reported another fire in an apartment building on the Eggenberg Belt: a garbage can was found that had already been extinguished and some smoke was found in the stairwell.
