Ukrainian authorities have confirmed the deaths of at least three people. In addition, Ukraine receives electricity from neighboring countries to maintain supplies after the massive Russian attack last morning, mainly aimed at its own energy system.
Last morning Russia attacked at least nine regions of Ukraine with approx 90 missiles and more than 60 drones kamikaze Shahed that targeted the Ukrainian energy system and left some of the affected regions without electricity. According to Ukrainian authorities, last morning’s wave of Russian missiles and drones was the largest recent attack on Ukraine’s energy system.
At least three people died and according to reports from Ukrainian authorities, fifteen people were injured. Two of the victims were killed in Khmelnitsky Oblast, western Ukraine, as reported by Ukraine’s Interior Minister Igor Klimenko on his social networks. According to regional authorities, the third of the deceased lost his life in Zaporizhia.
To maintain electricity supply after last night’s attack, Ukraine receives electricity from Romania, Slovakia and Poland. As the Ukrainian National Electricity Company announced in a statement, repair work on the damaged infrastructure will continue throughout the day until power is restored to all users.
Yesterday, Thursday, Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital with a total of 31 missiles, including a Kinzhal hypersonic missile, all of which were intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses. According to Ukrainian sources, the attack was intended to hit targets of the Ukrainian Military Intelligence Service (GUR).
This massive attack is happening a week after Ukraine carried out a series of attacks on refineries in Russia with the aim of reducing Russian crude oil exports and limiting fuel supplies to Kremlin forces on the front.
