A 62-year-old Austrian posed as a detective against a 35-year-old Romanian at around 7.40 am in Kitzbühel (Tirol) on Wednesday. The man insulted the man who legitimately sold 1920s newspapers, “checked” the 1920s newspaper map and told the man to leave.
The 35-year-old then left the city and became similarly active again in the Kitzbühel area shortly after. Here he impersonated a policewoman against a 35-year-old Romanian woman who also sold newspapers, demanded an identity card and snatched it from the woman’s hand.
After noticing that it was a newspaper ID, he snatched her purse from the woman’s hand and left the crime scene. The woman’s ID was in the wallet. The 62-year-old handed over the forcibly seized items to a taxi driver with the request to take them to the lost and found office in Kitzbühel.
The 62-year-old has been provisionally arrested. He is shown.
