“Everyone get out!” was the motto on an ÖBB passenger train near Rohr im Kremstal on Sunday evening. The problem: the train had not reached its final stop, but stranded on the public road. 90 people had to be evacuated.
“90 passengers were taken to Kremsmünster in buses, there were no injuries,” an ÖBB spokesperson said in response to a “Krone” request. A train came to a standstill on the Pyhrn section near Rohr im Kremstal around 5:30 p.m. and could no longer continue.
The reason for the technical defect is still unclear. It is possible that power lines have been damaged by the storm or fallen trees.
Pyhrn route closed
Fire and rescue services were also ordered to escort the disused train to supervise the evacuation of the passengers. The disruption affects not only the train in question, but the entire Pyhrn route, which was closed on Sunday evening due to the defect. It was initially not known when it would be accessible again.
