An overtaking maneuver ended in a ditch and subsequently in hospital for a driver (55) in the Tyrolean Zillertal on Friday morning. The man had previously rammed a large traffic sign with his car.
According to police, the accident happened around 11:30 am. The local resident was driving his car on the national highway in the Zillertal. The 55-year-old overtook several vehicles in the municipality of Aschau. He may have noticed an oncoming car too late.
The driver had to swerve to avoid the car and left the road. There his car crashed into a large traffic sign and was thrown over the dike. The 55-year-old suffered significant injuries in the accident and was taken to Schwaz hospital. His car is badly damaged.
