On Easter Sunday around 2:30 PM, an elderly couple wanted to cross the B3 near Abwinden (Perg district). Suddenly a car passed by at high speed, hit the woman (86) in front of her and fatally injured her. Terrible: The driver of the accident did not stop and committed a hit and run. The police are now urgently looking for a dark Audi that may have been damaged at the front right.
The 86-year-old from St. Georgen an der Gusen wanted to cross the B3 from the Abwinden power station with her husband on Sunday around 2:30 p.m. After both made sure that no vehicles were approaching, they set off. The woman was driving about a meter in front of her husband when suddenly a car came charging at high speed from the right (coming from the direction of Mauthausen) in the 70 km/h zone.
Resuscitation attempts
The man wanted to warn the 86-year-old, but unfortunately it was too late. The pedestrian was rammed and thrown into the opposite lane towards the B3 ‘I’m Fall’ intersection.
Witnesses and neighbors – including paramedics – immediately rushed to help and began resuscitation efforts. Unfortunately, the emergency doctor who arrived shortly afterwards was only able to confirm her death due to the serious injuries.
Looking for a dark Audi
The driver involved in the accident simply drove away without stopping. Based on the investigation at the scene of the accident, it was determined that the getaway vehicle was a dark Audi A5.
Damaged bumper and headlights
This is probably damaged at the front right of the bumper, because parts of the bumper and the headlight were left behind at the scene of the accident. These have been seized and are subject to criminal and forensic investigations to obtain further information about the vehicle.
Witnesses who can provide information about the getaway car and parts of the license plate are urgently requested to contact the St. Georgen an der Gusen police station on 059133/4327-100.
