On Saturday afternoon, a 14-year-old went on a wild chase with police in Vienna-Meidling after stealing a car.
The car was parked in the parking lot of a sports hall when the teenager took the car keys from the locker and fled in the car. The 55-year-old car owner noticed via his mobile phone app that his vehicle had been stolen and immediately alerted the police. A search for the vehicle was immediately launched.
Lost control
When the 14-year-old noticed police were chasing him, he sped up and led officers on a wild chase. However, the 14-year-old lost control of the vehicle in the area of Hohenbergstrasse and crashed into a light pole and a tree. He then tried to flee on foot, but was stopped by police.

The 14-year-old was temporarily arrested on suspicion of burglary and is said to be at large. The teen was then taken to hospital with minor injuries. No other people were injured in the incident.
