The International Atomic Energy Agency reported a drone attack. Ukraine last night denied responsibility for any military operation against the plant.
The Kremlin this Monday described the drone attack on the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia, the largest in Europe and which Russia has controlled since March 2022, as a “very dangerous provocation”.
“It is a very dangerous provocation. Employees of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) witnessed the attacks,” Russian presidency spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during his daily telephone press conference.
Peskov has emphasized that this is a situation that could have “very negative” consequences. “Unfortunately, the Kiev regime continues its terrorist activities,” he added.
Last night, Ukraine denied responsibility for any military operation against the plant, after Russia and the IAEA this Sunday denounced a direct drone attack on the infrastructure.
“Ukraine is not involved in any armed provocation on the site of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, which is illegally occupied by Russia,” he told the newspaper on Sunday evening. Ukrainian Pravda the spokesperson of the Ukrainian military intelligence, Andri Yusov.
The IAEA had previously reported a drone attack whose explosions caused “minor” damage to one of the plant’s six reactors.
