Due to a congenital abnormality of the hip joint, Romina from Carinthia has only been able to sit until now. Now she needs your help to learn to stand.
‘Huwe 1’, a genetic defect that has not yet been extensively researched. This sad news shocked mother Natascha Lerchbaumer from Feldkirchen seven years ago when her daughter saw the light of day. “Romina has enormous developmental delays, is small in stature and has left and right hip dysplasia, a congenital defect of the hip joint,” says the mother.
Continuous support
Above all, it is the obstacles of everyday life that pose a special challenge. ‘She can’t walk or talk. Romina crawls from room to room and all she can say is mom. When she needs something, she screams. Otherwise it really is full care 24/7,” says 28-year-old Natascha.
Muscles need to be trained
Romina owns a total of three different wheelchair accessible buggies that are used for transportation. They are all designed for sitting. Using a template from child and youth surgery, a so-called standing position must now be organized for Romina so that the girl’s muscles, especially in her legs, can be trained and standing upright can be practiced. The fact that this is associated with extremely high costs makes the young mother sad: “Life costs so much. I take care of my little grinning cheek 24 hours a day, but I’m really struggling financially. The standing stand is so important, but costs 4026.76 euros. Money that is simply missing at the front and back. It’s hard for me to accept help. However, Romina’s development is more important.”
You can help
And in this case, the “Krone” family can help. The association “The Crown Helps – Karinthia” collects donations to help get through the worst of the worst. If you would also like to help Romina get her standing stand to support her, donate to account IBAN: AT45 3900 0000 0591 9006 with the password “Romina”.
Your donation is tax deductible.
