A man armed with a sword injured five people in London on Tuesday morning. Police arrested a 36-year-old after the attack in the east of the British capital. The attack “does not appear to be related to terrorism”, the Metropolitan Police said.
Around 7 a.m., the police received a report that a car had crashed into a house. There, officers eventually found the attacker with the sword, who had already injured people. He then attacked other people and two police officers. Five victims ultimately had to be taken to a hospital.

The police assume it is a lone perpetrator
“We are still waiting for information on the condition of the injured,” police said. “This must have been a terrible incident for those affected,” said Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan. “We do not believe there is any ongoing danger to the population. We are not looking for any other suspects.”

British Home Secretary James Cleverly thanked the rescuers and said on the X platform (formerly Twitter) that his thoughts were with those affected. Cleverly also called on people not to speculate or distribute images of the case online, but to report important information to police.
