It was a wild night in the Innviertel! According to the first reports, there was a chase through the Braunau district – that’s what it was called: police against dealers. In the end the crooks stayed behind. But it was apparently due to luck or chance that the hunt ended without injuries.
According to initial information, two emergency vehicles were damaged during the operation, which reportedly involved more than half a dozen police patrols. It is still unclear whether the suspected drug dealers deliberately rammed them or whether the accidents occurred as a result of braking maneuvers during the chase.
Stopped after 30 kilometers
The suspects are said to have fled near Braunau and then raced southeast in their station wagon with a German license plate – ER for Erlangen. The chase reportedly lasted about 30 kilometers before the car came to a stop in St. Johann am Walde on Sunday morning around 3:30 am. The driver was arrested, but there are said to be several suspects.
The police work is not yet completed; we will report back as new information becomes available.
