More than ten people have been killed or injured in a knife attack on a hospital in China, according to state media.
The incident took place around 1:20 p.m. in Zhenxiong county in southwestern Yunnan province, state news agency Xinhua reported on Tuesday, without providing further details on the nature of the attack. The authorities therefore checked the incident.
As Xinhua reported, there were at least ten casualties in the attack. However, it was initially unclear how many people were injured or died. The report initially contained no information about the alleged perpetrator.
Violent crimes with many victims are relatively rare in China. The possession of firearms is strictly prohibited for private individuals. However, in recent years, knife attacks have become increasingly common.
