A 50-year-old athlete was injured to an unspecified degree on the via ferrata Poppenberg in Hinterstoder (Upper Austria). The woman from Scharnstein lost her balance in a difficult passage and fell several meters into the depths.
On Monday around 3:15 p.m., the 50-year-old completed an important section of the via ferrata of the Poppenberg in Hinterstoder, which was rated as difficult as C+. Suddenly the climber lost her balance and fell a few meters to the next anchorage.
Rescued by helicopter
She suffered injuries of an unknown nature. With the help of rope rescue, the injured woman was rescued from the via ferrata by the emergency medical helicopter “Christophorus 14” and flown to hospital.
