Every journalist’s nightmare: you conduct an extensive interview and it goes very well. The interviewer is in a good mood and enjoys talking. When you get home, you want – because the impressions are still fresh – to transfer the file from the recording device to the computer and then transcribe the conversation. But what do I hear? Nothing. Nothing. The device did not record. All I have left are the written notes. But they are not sufficient to reconstruct what was said.
