“Tutto Gas” in Italy – Pentecost holidays: Austrians “dismantled” Lignano

Date:

State of emergency in the Upper Adriatic: many more Austrians than expected “dismantled” Lignano at Pentecost this year – total party escalation!

It was estimated that there would be 30,000 to 50,000 party tourists this year. But on Friday there were already around 90,000 bookings in Lignano. Not all “Tutto Gas” tourists, of course, but in fact the authorities were surprised by the actual attack of partygoers. Especially since many young guests from Bavaria also arrived this year.

After Friday passed without “major incidents”, as police officer Martin Marco, who was sent to Lignano from Carinthia, confirmed to us on the spot, there were numerous party escalations in the remaining days and nights.

“I was there for the fifth time now – but that was probably the busiest and worst weekend so far,” the official draws a sad conclusion.

“No fewer missions on Sunday”
Seizures of not insignificant quantities of drugs, damage to property, a flood of theft reports, violations of regulations (ban on jukeboxes, bikinis or toplessness, etc.) and countless fights. “The longer the weekend lasted, the more aggressive the mood became,” the police officer said.

There have never been so many rescue missions for ‘alcoholic corpses’ as during this long Pentecost weekend. The emergency medical services could not rest for a second and shuttled between the festival site and the nearby hospital.

“We hoped it would be quieter on Sunday evening, but we did not have fewer operations than on Saturday,” said the police officer, who was on duty until 6am on Monday.

The reason why this year Sunday evening was not as quiet as usual: some party tourists simply extended “Tutto Gas” – because the Italians carried out alcohol checks on Monday last year. And so some had to hand in their driving license on the return journey due to residual alcohol. So this year they only left on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, there are always people who cannot be taught”
Sabine and Dietmar M. from Lower Austria experienced the party on the beach up close: “Unfortunately there are always people who do not teach. You also need to take action there. But the majority of the guys stick to the rules and just want to party hard. And that’s okay.”

“That is exactly three days a year, that is what Lignano can handle,” says the couple Sabine and Dietmar M. from Lower Austria, who own an apartment in the seaside resort.

And avoid the party zones, but this year even celebrated a little with friends because of a big birthday…
